Meet Mrs. Rachelle Schwall

 

 Head Band Director Rachelle Schwall is in her second year as head band director and was the assistant director for three years prior. Rachelle is a graduate from the Bowling Green University and is married to Mike Schwall, head director at Ontario High School. She is a  mother of two children, Mason and Kailyn, and is expecting a third in the early spring. Rachelle is very proud of all of her students and wishes nothing but the best success to all.

 

 Meet Mr. James Brand

 Assistant Band Director James Brand is in his 27th year of teaching, and his ninth in the Mansfield City Schools. From 2000 to 2007, he served as Director of Bands at John Simpson Middle School. Prior to that, Mr. Brand was Assistant Band Director in the Gallipolis City Schools (1982-84) and Band/Choir Director of the Crestview Local School District (1984-2000).

Mr. Brand's ensembles have received district, state and national recognition, including back to back grand championships of the Cleveland Grand Prix Festival and a nationally televised performance in Detroit's “America's Thanksgiving Day Parade”.

Brand is a cum laude graduate of The Ohio State University School of Music, and has completed additional studies at The University of Akron, Ashland University, Bowling Green State University, The University of Dayton and The Ohio State University. In addition, he is a member of the Academic Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, and Music Honorary Pi Kappa Lambda. Mr. Brand has also been presented with the Franklin B. Walter Award for outstanding classroom teaching and is a Martha Holden Jennings scholar.

Along with classroom responsibilities, Brand has served on Building and District Leadership teams, is a member of Mansfield City Schools Entry Year Teacher Mentor Committee, and also serves as Worship Leader at the United Methodist Church of Savannah.

At Mansfield Senior, Mr. Brand is responsible for the High School Concert Band and Tyger Jazz Lab Ensemble. He also assists with the T-Y Tyger Marching Band and Symphonic Band, as well as providing instruction to Fifth and Sixth Grade students at Brinkerhoff Intermediate School.
